Dawn on (somebody):
Caer en la cuenta. Dar cuenta.
ex. "Caí en la cuenta de que no estaba sólo." (It dawned on me that I wasn't alone.)

Decide against (doing something):
Decider en contra de (algo). Decidir no hacer algo.
ex. "Mi hermano decidió de no ir al trabajo." (He decided against going to work); "Juan decidió en contra de ayudarnos." (Juan decided against helping us.)

Die down:
Disminuir.
ex. "El ruido disminuyó." (The noise died down.); "El viento amainó." (The wind died down.)

Dig in:
(to start eating) Empezar a comer.
ex. "¡Coman muchachos! La comida se enfría." (Dig in, boys! The food is getting cold.)

Do away with:
Suprimir. Eliminar.
ex. "El presidente quiere suprimir la pena de muerte." (The president wants to do away with the death penalty.)

Do (something) over:
Hacer (algo) de nuevo. Repitir.
ex. "Tienes que hacerlo de nuevo." OR "Tienes que repitirlo." (You have to do it over.)

Do up:
(zippers, shirts, etc.) Abrochar (algo).
ex. "mientras se abrocha la camisa" (while he's doing up his shirt)
(hair) Peinar.
ex. "Se peinó." (She did up her hair.)

Do without:
Vivir sin (algo); Prescindir de (algo).
ex. "Tendremos que vivir sin coche un rato." (We're going to have to do without a car for a while.); "No podemos prescindir de ninguno de estos nutrientes." (We can't do without any of these nutrients.)

Drag on:
Prolongarse mucho. Alargarse mucho. Hacerse interminable.
ex. "La guerra se prolonga mucho." (The was is dragging on.); "Eso puede hacerse interminable." (This can drag on forever.)

Dress up:
1) Vestirse formalmente/elegantemente.
ex. "Mi hermano se vistió elegantemente para la fiesta." (My brother dressed up for the party.)
2) (Dress up as someone) Disfrazarse de (alguien).
ex. "Él se disfrazó de Barack Obama." (He dressed up as Barack Obama.)

Drop in (on someone)/Drop by (some place):
Venir a visitar (sin avertir). Caerle (MX, CAmer, Carrib., Col.) ex. "Ven cuando quieras." (Drop by anytime.); "Caele mañana." (Drop by tomorrow.); "Te caigo por la tarde." (I'll drop by {to see you} in the afternoon.)

Drop off:
Entregar (algo). Dejar.
ex. "Te voy a dejar en tu casa." (I'll drop you off at home.); "Tengo que entregar esto en mi trabajo." (I have to drop this off at work.)

Drop out of:
Abandonar. Dejar de (hacer algo).
ex. "Abandoné aquella escuela." (I dropped out of that school.)

Draw up:
Preparar.
ex. "Mi abogado preparó los documentos." (My lawyer drew up the documents.)
