Wait on:
Servir (a alguien) en un restaurante, etc. Trabajar de mesero.
p.ej. "I don't want to wait on tables forever." (No quiero trabajar de mesero para siempre.)

Wait (something) out:
Esperar el fin de (algo).
p.ej. "We went into a cafe to wait out the storm." (Entramos en un café para esperar que la tomenta pasara.)

Wait up (on/for) someone:
Esperar (a alguien). Esperar levantado (a alguien).
p.ej. "Don't worry, they'll wait up for you." (No te preocupes, te van a esperar [levantado].)

Wake up:
Despertarse.
p.ej. "I woke up at 7:00 AM this morning." (Me despertí a las 7 esta mañana.)

Walk in on (something/someone):
Entrar.
p.ej. "My parents walked in on us kissing." (Mis padres entraron cuando estábamos besando.)

Walk off with (something):
Salir con (algo).
p.ej. "The thieves walked off with 20 thousand pesos." (Los ladrones se llevaron 20 mil pesos.)

Wash out (usually used in the passive form):
1) "The game was washed out." = "El partido fue cancelado por la lluvia."
2) "A washed out image, etc." = "Una imagen borrosa."

Wash up:
Lavarse las manos, etc.
p.ej. "Make sure you wash up before eating." (No olvides de lavarte las manos antes de comer.)

Watch out (for):
Tener cuidado (con).
p.ej. "There's a school at the end of this block. Watch out for children crossing the street." (Hay una escuela ahí en la esquina. Cuidado con los niños cruzando la calle.)

Water down:
Aguar.
p.ej. "This beer is watered down." (Esta cerveza está aguada.)

Wear in:
Gastar (los zapatos, etc.)
p.ej. "I've worn in my new sneakers." (Ya gasté mis nuevos tenis.)

Wear off:
Pasar.
p.ej. "The effect of the drug will wear off in two hours." (El efecto de la medicina pasará en dos horas.)

Wear on:
Avanzar (gradualmente).
p.ej. "He got more and more drunk as the night wore on." (Se iba emborrachando más y más mientras avanzaba la noche.)

Wear out:
1) Desgastar (los zapatos, etc.)
p.ej. "I wore out the shoes in about six months." (Desgasté los zapatos en seis meses.)
2) Agotar a alguien. Hacer cansado a alguien.
p.ej. "My daily routine really wears me out." (La rutina diaria me agota/cansa mucho.)

Weed out:
Eliminar.
p.ej. "They weeded out all the rotten berries." (Eliminaron todos los bayos podridos.)

Whip out:
Sacar algo de golpe, de forma rapida, etc.
p.ej. "We were talking about my favorite book, when he whipped it out of his backpack." (Hablábamos de mi libro favorito, cuando él lo sacó de su mochila.)

Whip up:
Preparar algo rápidamente.
p.ej. "He whipped up some sandwiches." (Preparó rápidamente unos sandwiches.)

Wiggle/wriggle out (of something):
To avoid doing something through excuses, explanations, etc.


Wind down:
Descansarse. Relajarse.
p.ej. "I just need to wind down for a couple of hours." (Sólo necesito descansarme por unas horas.)

Wind up:
Terminar. Acabar.
p.ej. "If he doesn't get his act together, he is going to wind up in jail." (Si no se las arregle, va a terminar en la cárcel.)

Wipe (someone) out:
1) Agotar a alguien. Cansar mucho a alguien.
p.ej. "That hike really wiped me out!" (Esta caminata me agotó.)
2) Exterminar. Acabar con.
p.ej. "Hunters have wiped out all the deer in this region." (Los cazadores han matado/exterminado a todos los venados en esta región.)
3) To wipe out a debt = Eliminar una deuda

Work in:
1) Introducir/meter algo en algo.
p.ej. "The writer worked in a couple of extra passages into his book." (El escritor metió unos pasajes más en su libro.)
2) Agregar gradualmente.
p.ej. "Now we have to work in the flour." (Ahora tenemos que agregar gradualmente la harina.)

Work off:
Perder (peso, etc.)
p.ej. "I need to work off a few kilos." (Tengo que perder unos kilos.)

Work out:
1) Salir/resultar bien.
p.ej. "I'm glad your new business is working out." (Me agrada que tu nuevo negocio está saliendo bien.)
2) Hacer ejercicio.
p.ej. "Martin works out three times a week." (Martin hace ejercicio tres veces por semana.)
3) To work out a problem = Resolver un problema

Work up:
1) To work up an appetite (from running, playing sports, other physical activity) = Hacer entrar hambre a alguien /Abrir el apetito a alguien (despues de correr, hacer deporte, o otra actividad física)
2) To work up a sweat = Empezar a sudar despues de una actividad física
3) To work oneself up/To get worked up = Ponerse nervioso, molesto

Write (something) down:
Escribir/apuntar (algo).
p.ej. "Write down your name." (Escribe tu nombre.)

Write (something) off:
1) Dar a alguien/algo por perdido.
p.ej. "He wrote it off." (Lo dio por perdido.)
2) Cancelar (una deuda, etc.)

Write up:
1) Preparar. Escribir.
p.ej. "He wrote up the report." (Preparó el informe.)
2) Multar (a alguien).
p.ej. "The police officer wrote him up for speeding." (El policía lo multó por exceso de velocidad.)

Wrap up:
Terminar.
p.ej. "We have to wrap up the meeting." (Tenemos que terminar la reunión.)
