📚 Quick grammar review
📌
The six reflexive pronouns — me, te, se, nos, os, se — one for each grammatical person. They always match the subject: yo me lavo, tú te lavas, él se lava, nosotros nos lavamos. The reflexive pronoun shows that the subject performs the action on itself.
🔧
Placement: before or attached — Before a conjugated verb: Me despierto a las siete. Attached to an infinitive: Voy a despertarme or me voy a despertar. Attached to a gerund: Estoy lavándome or me estoy lavando. With affirmative commands, always attached: Levántate.
💡
Reflexive verbs can change meaning — Many verbs change meaning when made reflexive: ir (to go) → irse (to leave); dormir (to sleep) → dormirse (to fall asleep); ir → irse; hacer → hacerse (to become). The reflexive signals a change in the subject's state, not just the action reflecting back.
