Estar and hay for city landmarks — Use estar for where specific things are: El banco está en la calle Mayor. Use hay for existence: Hay un semáforo en esa esquina (There's a traffic light on that corner). Directions: Gira a la derecha / izquierda (Turn right/left). Sigue todo recto (Go straight on). Está a dos cuadras (It's two blocks away).

Urban conversations — ¿Hay un parque cerca de aquí? (Is there a park nearby?). El rascacielos se ve desde todo el barrio (The skyscraper is visible from the whole neighbourhood). Cruza en el paso de peatones (Cross at the pedestrian crossing). El farol de esa calle no funciona (The street light on that street is broken).
