📌
Parts of the face — el ojo (eye), la mejilla (cheek), el pelo (hair), los labios (lips — always plural), la barbilla (chin), la ceja (eyebrow), los dientes (teeth — always plural), la nariz (nose), la frente (forehead). Essential vocabulary for descriptions, emotions and health.
🔧
Face parts with body-part article rule — In Spanish, use the definite article (not possessive) with face parts in context: Le brillan los ojos (His eyes are shining), Se mordió los labios (She bit her lips). La nariz is singular; la frente is feminine (watch out — the article gives it away). La ceja and el párpado (eyelid) often appear in pairs.
💬
Describing facial features — Tiene los ojos verdes (She has green eyes). Le salió un grano en la mejilla (He got a spot on his cheek). Se le nota en la cara (You can see it on his face — figurative). Tiene la barbilla muy marcada (He has a very prominent chin). ¡Sonríe, muestra los dientes! (Smile, show your teeth!).
